Interview with Chris
クリスは昨年夏休み、キャンプスタッフとして来日。私の友人宅にステイして、アニメショップ巡りなどを楽しみました。 |
Christine:Manga has become fairly popular, but it is not nearly as popular as it is in Japan.
Guide:What manga do you like the best?
Christine:My favorite manga is Hana-Kimi.
In Japanese it is 花ざかりの君たちへ(hanazakari no kimitachi e).
Guide:These days, many Japanese learn English by reading English-translated Japanese mangas. Do you think this way is effective to learn English?
Christine:Yes, reading is a good way to understand English grammar and to see how people talk. It is a fun way to study and improve English skills.
クリスの一番のお気に入り『花ざかりの君たちへ』 |
Christine:Anime is much more familiar to children than manga is. There are many anime on TV that children watch, like Yugioh, Pokemon, One piece, and Princess Mew Mew. However, most children don’t know what manga is. It is mostly read by anime fans who are in high school or older.
I didn’t have a gameboy when I was younger, but I would steel my brother's and play . I also played the pokemon card game and watched the show. I actually still have some of the cards yet.
Guide:Was Japan just like you imagined?
Christine:No, it was much better. I knew a little of what to expect from reading manga and from other sources, but they did not prepare me for how wonderful it really was.
