More about Genki English◆
◆(Kawamoto): Could you tell us a little bit more about Genki English? Richard & Will |
▼Providing Concrete Ideas & Giving People Confidence(Richard): Okay. Genki English is always changing. We're always listening to lots of people. Basically we provide two main things for elementary school teachers and ALTs. One is concrete ideas that you can use straight away in the classroom. They're on the
website, illustrated, in Japanese and English, and you can use those ideas "voom" straight away. And a lot of them are free. That's one thing—concrete ideas. The second thing we give to people is confidence.
(Kawamoto): Confidence, right.▼Now Go Out There and DO IT!(Richard): For ALTs we show them, "Look, you can make a difference, you're really good, and if you just focus your energy and just keep the faith and just keep going you can do it." And then for Japanese teachers, the confidence, the same thing. "Look you can teach English, even if you don't speak it. It's your attitude - if your attitude is good, the kids will learn from that." So that is basically what Genki English is at the moment, the two things - techniques you can use for your lessons, tomorrow, and then confidence. We'll give you the confidence to go out there and DO IT!
▼Japan – People Are the Resource! Just Enjoy English and Talk to the World(Will): I always consider Japan's greatest natural resource to be its people. Everyone says Japan has no oil, no this, no that, right? But the people are the resource and when Japanese people put their mind to something, they do it really well. At Genki English we think that if shogakko English is done properly, everyone will do a really, really good job, because people think "Yeah!," "Go for it!" and "Ganbaru!" and they just need the right path. We think the enthusiasm and the application is there. We want people to have fun and talk to the rest of the world. And they can.
(Kawamoto): Alright, thank you so much.(Richard & Will): Thank you!
